Q: WHO’S FIGHTING FOR VETERANS BENEFITS?
A: THE AMERICAN LEGION, OF COURSE!
PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia County Council of the Dept. of PA, American Legion (the world’s largest veterans organization), had its regular meeting earlier tonight at the VA Medical Center, 38th & Woodland Sts, conducted by County Commander Marge Chimielewski [WWII]. Some hot topics included were the “Operation Firing for Effect” VetMarch2006; The lack of media coverage for veterans.
;
With talk of budget cuts for the VA and other veterans benefits going around in D.C., a full-house showed-up in the Legion County Council tonight to show support, as Veterans Advocates and Officials, past and present showed up to get involved in speaking for our Nation’s Veterans and the rights and benefits the veterans and their families are entitled to- the Vet March 2006, took the floor. Diverse News will have the details of the VetMarch2006 results when 1st District Commander, Marshall Houston’s dispatched personnel, headed by County Sergeant-at-Arms, Robert Taylor, returns with the 4-11. The Vet March is headed by Gene Simes who organized this year’s rally. It is still unknown why the March hasn’t received much news coverage. As important as veterans are to American Society, veterans groups do not get as much press coverage as other groups, such as protesters. Lack of media coverage has been on the minds of many veterans groups. One can see why, with the great sacrifice Veterans give for our Nation, not getting coverage for their cause and sacrifice is a big slap-in-the-face.
