First Annual AITEC Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Wounded Warrior Project
EASTCHESTER, N.Y., June 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — AITEC, the Alternative Investment Technology Executives Club, is pleased to announce that their charity golf tournament, held at the Leewood Golf Club in Eastchester, New York, raised $150,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
“We are ecstatic that our inaugural AITEC charity golf tournament was such an overwhelming success,” said Hans Bleuel, AITEC board member. “We are grateful for the freedoms and luxuries we are afforded in our lives, and we know this freedom often comes at a great cost. That is why the Wounded Warrior Project was top of mind. Thanks to our participants and sponsors who helped raise funds for this prestigious cause.”
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded warriors by raising awareness and enlisting the public’s aid to meet the needs of servicemen and service woman injured in the line of duty.
It is estimated that over 50,000 servicemen and women have been physically injured in recent military conflicts, another 320,000 have experienced traumatic brain injury while on deployment, and as many as 400,000 additional service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
“There are many great organizations that provide the unique and highly specialized services crucial to the recovery of our injured service members,” said Chris Turek, AITEC board member. “Many of these groups have limited funding and the donation from AITEC will contribute to making these much needed services more widely available.
“Key to the organization of the event was eSentire who beyond paid sponsorship also provided critical logistical support. “When AITEC asked if we could help with their inaugural charity golf tournament, we jumped at the chance,” said J. Paul Haynes, Chief Executive Officer of eSentire. “Helping AITEC raise funds is our way of thanking those service members who have made the kinds of sacrifices most of us cannot not imagine, let alone endure. It is an honor to support the Wounded Warrior Project.”
AITEC would like to thank its 30 sponsors who helped make the event a success. For a full list of sponsors, please visit http://www.aitec.org/charitygolfevent.
