“Semper Cool” is sweeping the Nation and Giving Needed Support to Those Wounded in War

Fixler was one of the small group of Marines who fought the Siege of Khe Sanh, and his memories from that historic battle are among the many dramatic, harrowing and sometimes humorous stories that he shares in Semper Cool.
“My goal is to raise at least $1 MILLION for wounded combat veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Fixler. “Well meaning individuals have cautioned that publicly stating a goal may be perceived as naive or pretentious — or both! Fixler has helped wounded troops across the country. Brendon Morrocco (ARMY) needed $60,000 for his house, Fixler was there to help. Brendon was the first quadruple amputee to survive such a horrific battlefield trauma. Brendon lost all four limbs on the battlefield. Sgt. Eddie Ryan (USMC) needed funds for travelling expenses to run in the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon. Eddie was a Marine Corps sniper in Iraq who was shot twice in the head in a friendly fire incident. Eddie completed the Marathon in a specially modified bike/hand-peddled-trike that was pushed by a USMC Staff Sergeant. Unknown Soldier from New York returned home from Afghanistan to discover that his wife had left him and their two young children. He had no idea how to cope and with the emotional, financial and logistical challenges he suddenly faced and was contemplating suicide. Colonel Jack Hussey (ARMY) called Fixler.
